The process of selling privately through HouseWeb was simple. We had searched the Internet to find a house in Australia and, as buyers, we realised how useful the Web can be. Therefore we had no reservations about trying HouseWeb as a seller. If we had no luck we could always go back to using an Estate Agent. 

Advertising on HouseWeb is not difficult; it is as secure as advertising through an agent in a magazine. It is also incredibly cheap! It is well worth a try and if difficult questions arise in the subsequent sale, your solicitor should be able to field them. 

Our decision to sell privately was prompted by the excessive rates levied by Estate Agents for what is essentially an advertising exercise. Also this rate is dependent on the house price. Why should it cost so much more to sell a house valued at £250,000 than one valued at £100,000?
